Continue your journey as the road snakes through the heart of the Atlas Mountains. Passing small Berber villages where life has remained unchanged for centuries. The next stop on your adventure is Ait Ben Haddou, an ancient fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage site. The kasbahs here are built from a unique combination of clay, straw, and stone, giving them a distinct reddish-brown hue that blends seamlessly with the surrounding desert landscape. Ait Ben Haddou has served as the backdrop for numerous blockbuster films. Such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones, making it a must-see location for film lovers and history enthusiasts alike. You’ll have time to explore the narrow alleyways, admire the ancient architecture, and learn about the rich history of this striking location.

The route takes you through scenic roads lined with lush palm groves and terraced fields. Offering spectacular views of the valley below. As you travel deeper into the valley, you’ll see numerous kasbahs—traditional mud-brick fortresses—that dot the landscape. These kasbahs. Often built with local materials, have withstood the test of time and stand as a testament to Morocco’s rich cultural heritage. The valley is sometimes referred to as the “Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs” due to the large number of these structures in the area, each with its own unique history and character.
