After breakfast, depart from Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Morocco,” and begin your journey through the beautiful landscapes of the south. Your first stop is the Skoura Oasis, a vast palm grove dotted with traditional mud-brick kasbahs, including the famous Kasbah Amridil, where you can learn about local architecture and Berber history.
Continue toward Kalaat Mgouna and the Rose Valley, a region renowned for its Damascus roses and traditional distilleries. During spring, the valley blooms with pink rose fields, and you can visit local cooperatives producing rose water and natural cosmetic products. The road then follows the peaceful Dades Valley, passing through small Berber villages, fertile agricultural terraces, and dramatic rock formations.
In the afternoon, enjoy several scenic stops to admire the winding mountain roads and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the valley. Arrive in the Dades Gorge, where you will check into a charming hotel or riad. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and relax in the calm atmosphere of the mountains.
After breakfast, leave Dades Valley and travel toward the spectacular Todra Gorge, one of Morocco’s most impressive natural landmarks. Take time to walk through the narrow canyon, where massive limestone cliffs rise dramatically above the riverbed. The cool shade and fresh air make this stop a refreshing experience.
Continue your journey through desert landscapes toward Erfoud, a town famous for its fossils and date palms. You may stop at a fossil workshop to see ancient marine fossils transformed into decorative pieces. The scenery changes as you approach the Sahara, with small villages, oasis towns, and vast open plains.
In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, at the edge of the magnificent Erg Chebbi dunes. Exchange your vehicle for a camel and begin a peaceful trek across the dunes at sunset. The soft light creates golden and orange reflections over the sand, offering unforgettable views and photo opportunities. After about an hour, arrive at your desert camp, where you will be welcomed with mint tea, enjoy a traditional dinner, and spend the night in a comfortable nomadic tent accompanied by Berber music under the stars.
Wake up early to witness the magical sunrise over the Sahara, as the dunes change color with the first light of the day. After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4, where your driver will be waiting.
Begin your journey westward through the historic desert town of Rissani, once an important caravan trading center. Visit the local traditional market and explore its authentic atmosphere. Continue through Alnif and Nkob, known for their palm oases and traditional kasbahs.
Drive along the majestic Draa Valley, one of the longest and most beautiful palm valleys in Morocco, passing countless date palm groves, ksars, and old kasbahs. Enjoy scenic stops along the way to admire the contrast between fertile oases and arid desert landscapes. Cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains and arrive in Ouarzazate in the late afternoon. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.
After breakfast, visit the world-famous Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for many international movies and series. Walk through its narrow alleys and climb to the top of the fortified village for panoramic views.
Continue the journey toward Telouet Kasbah, once the stronghold of the powerful Glaoui family. Then begin crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass, the highest road mountain pass in Morocco. Enjoy several stops to take photos and admire traditional Berber villages perched on the mountainsides.
Arrive in Marrakech in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel, riad, or the airport, marking the end of your unforgettable desert adventure.
