Itinerary 3 days from Marrakech to Fes desert tour

Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley

Begin your journey with a morning departure from Marrakesh, traveling through the Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Enjoy panoramic views of dramatic landscapes and traditional Berber villages along the way. Visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, an ancient fortified village and famous film location. After lunch, continue to Ouarzazate, the “Gateway to the Desert,” and then follow the scenic “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the Dades Valley. Here, marvel at the unique rock formations known as “Monkey Fingers” before settling into your riad or hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorge – Merzouga

After breakfast at your riad, the journey continues through the captivating Moroccan countryside, where the scenery shifts from rugged mountains to lush green oases dotted with traditional Berber villages. Enjoy views of palm groves and mudbrick homes, which reflect the region’s harmonious blend of natural beauty and human ingenuity. Stop at the iconic Todra Gorge, where towering canyon walls soar over 300 meters high, creating a dramatic setting. Here, you can take a leisurely walk along the river, explore narrow pathways, or simply marvel at the breathtaking rock formations.

Continue your drive through the towns of Tinjdad and Erfoud, known for their charming markets and fossil workshops showcasing ancient marine life turned to stone over millennia. As you approach Merzouga, the landscape transforms into the striking golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, a gateway to the Sahara Desert. Upon arrival, meet your friendly camel caravan and enjoy a trek through the shifting sands, immersing yourself in the tranquility of the desert. Witness the sun dipping below the horizon, painting the dunes in warm hues of orange and gold—a truly magical sight.

Arrive at your desert camp, where you’ll be welcomed with Moroccan mint tea and a warm smile. Settle into your cozy Berber-style tent, then gather around the campfire to enjoy a traditional dinner featuring local dishes like aromatic tagines and freshly baked bread. As the night deepens, listen to the rhythms of Berber music and captivating stories from your hosts. Under the vast, star-filled sky, let the serenity of the desert envelop you, making this an unforgettable experience.

Day 3:Merzouga – Ziz Valley – Fes

Rise early to watch the sunrise over the dunes, an unforgettable sight. After breakfast, camel trek back to Merzouga and begin your journey to Fes. Travel through the lush Ziz Valley, with its vast palm groves and picturesque scenery. Stop in Midelt for lunch before continuing through the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you may spot Barbary macaques. Pass through charming towns like Ifrane, known as “Morocco’s Switzerland,” before arriving in Fes in the evening, where your tour concludes.

3-day group tour from Marrakech to Fes

Solo Traveller

Our 3-day group tour from Marrakech to Fes was incredible! The scenery through the Atlas Mountains, Ait Ben Haddou, and the gorges was unforgettable. The camel ride at sunset was amazing, and the desert camp was clean and comfortable. We met great people in our group, and the guide was fun, helpful, and really well-organized. For the price, the experience was outstanding. Highly recommended!
